Cindy Brewer is the second oldest of 11 children. She has lived in Israel, Germany and Austria and speaks Hebrew, German and Spanish. In 1997, she received a Fulbright Grant to Study at the Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. She holds a Ph.D. in German Literature from the University to Utah and is currently an associate Professor at Brigham Young University. Her research interests include bilingual parenting, 19th and early 20th-century women’s literature, and colonial studies. She has been happily married for 18 years to Bruce Brewer, a psychologist, academic advisor, and National Guard Chaplain. Cindy and Bruce have raised their six sons bilingually, speaking both English and German in the home.
