"The Security Blanket" - A Parent’s Ability to Affirm Worth
Hosts: Kenneth H. Patey, Sharon Patey
Principle number two is Commitment to AFFIRM WORTH & to SHOW GENUINE COMPASSION. This principle sets out the standard of treating people with dignity and respect even in the face of inappropriate behavior. Do you recognize that All Persons Are of Infinite Worth? That includes YOUR children! In large measure, their behavior is learned—much of it from us as parents. Their Misbehavior is Almost Always the Symptom of Some Other Problem. In addition, Behavior is Belief Linked. Think of it THIS way: If you were exposed to the same relationship style THEY have seen, and you had the same beliefs THEY have, how would YOU be acting in their circumstance? Would you not want compassion from YOUR parents and to have YOUR worth affirmed by them? You can keep your relationships with your children INTACT if you can apply this principle!
