This is a very exciting and challenging stage of for parents.  The job of the adolescent is to define who he is so that he can move on into adulthood.  This is challenging to the parent because up until this time, children tend to be more compliant, and they have been more involved in the learning of things that were of interest to them.  It is during this stage that their peers begin to play an important part of their lives.  Learn how to be a “parent guide on the side” and how to enjoy the roller coaster ride.  You CAN stay out of the crazy tree.
